With deepest regret we announce the death of our Colleague, a long time EATB Member, the past Chair of the Standard Committee
Bernard Loty
Bernard passed away on 8th of June 2010. Our condolences go out to Bernard's family, friends and colleagues...
As a President of the European Association of Tissue Banks I would like to share with all of you a message about Bernard, one of our significant EATB Members, written by another EATB Member that had the honour to share a lot with him…
Esteve Trias
Thanks Bernard...
Bernard Loty has been my colleague, my friend, my teacher for many years. We have shared a lot of projects, sessions, training programmes…, and also many hours of rich conversation around a table during lunches or dinners after a hard working day, far from home. I always did learned quite a lot from Bernard. He was secure, clever; quick in his answers, comments, suggestions and considerations.
His involvement and contribution to the European Tissue Banking field has been more than significant, starting as user, as Orthopaedic Surgeon, following as Tissue Banker and finally as Regulator, he was hardly after the European legal framework for tissues and cells.
Besides, we have shared during many years a very similar work and life, with very similar troubles, success and downfalls. Bernard was always there, just ready to give help and support.
I will miss you a lot and never forget you. Thanks Bernard, from the bottom of my heart
