It is a requirement of the European Directive (Directive 2004/23/EC and 2006/17/EC) that personnel working in the field of tissue banking are trained. The EATB supports training courses. There are many national and regional training courses, as well as the Barcelona University based course known as TPM (Transplant Procurement Management) and the new course run by TAIEX of the Directorate-General for Health and Consumer Affairs, in collaboration with TSF (Transplant Services Foundation) Barcelona, Spain. This is for the education and certification of tissue processing professionals and aims to validate specialised training models among tissue establishment personnel.
