JAN KLERKE is since 2018 Managing Director of Kornea- und Gewebebank Schwerin (HSN), an independent non-profit tissue bank that manufactures tissue and supplies patients with cornea and amniotic membrane grafts Germany-wide.
HSN is a 50 % subsidiary of DGFG – German Society of Tissue Transplantation, the biggest non-profit organization that coordinates and supports the entire process from tissue medicine throughout Germany.
Its tasks include:
- providing public awareness about the need for & benefits of tissue donation
- supporting hospitals professional education about tissue donation procedures
- clarifying all medical & legal preconditions for donating
- obtaining consents from the next of kin for tissue donation
- recoverying donated tissue
- distributing the prepared tissue for transplantation
Since 2013 Jan is Assistent to the CEO of DGFG and works in project management.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration University of Applied Sciences in Hannover in 2011. His first book publication „Measuring procedures
for psychological stress at the workplace: Comparison and evaluation for a company in the aviation industry“ took also place in 2011.
Since 2015 Jan is board member of EUROCODE IBLS e.V. This independent association generates the a nomenclature for blood products with further data structures for tissue preparations. Eurocode Product Codes can be used as “product number” within the Single European Code (SEC).
